TO PUSH THE BOUNDARIES MARIJKE FLEUREN PRESIDENT, EUROPEAN HOCKEY FEDERATION L aunched in 2007, EHL was a vision, a dream. Leandro Negre, former President of the EHF, famously remarked at the launch “The dream has been achieved.” And he was right, the dream had become a reality. It seems fi tting after fi ve years to look back at where we started. We remember the EHF Board meeting in Vilnius in 2006 when PRO SPORT came to present their idea to revolutionise club hockey in Europe: a chance to push the boundaries, to try new rules and to present the top club players in the world a stage to perform at their best! The EHF Board saw the chance and the EHL was born. Our image as a As the years went by, changes were implemented. The world economic climate had dramatically worsened and the massive injections of funds that are necessary to sustain such expert television productions were not easy to maintain. But we managed. With much effort from everyone involved we are delighted that we can now look forward to a solid future and probably will also be able to launch an ‘EHL’ for women.
