38 Paint it red Red cards are seldom handed out in hockey. The Euro Hockey League is no exception. The umpires have only handed out one red card in all the games played thus far. Of all things this was during the very fi rst EHL season. In the quarter fi nals between Egara and St. Germain, Frenchman Frédéric Verrier got a yellow card twice – which equals red. Playing ten against eleven, St. Germain didn’t stand a chance and they ultimately lost. Yellow cards were handed out a bit more frequently. Niall Stott is the record holder as recipients EHL CLUBHOPPERS Name Matthias Witthaus go; he has received three yellow cards. Could that have something to do with his past as an ice hockey player?
